Girl’s Varsity Tennis: Orioles place third in ‘competitive’ Portland tournament to start season

PORTLAND – The Ludington Orioles placed third out of four teams this past week in a tournament held in Portland. The hosts, DeWitt and Otsego, both took home first and second, with DeWitt as the victor.

Team Standings:

Ludington 13
Portland 4

The Orioles, despite “having only been outside a few times”, according to coach Rob Killips, put up a good fight, having multiple flight winners, including Kristi Killips and Ella Micka, who won their #1 doubles flight, a very competitive flight at the high school level.

“I think we played very well,” said Killips.
