HOLLAND — Eight members of the Ludington High School Swim and Dive Team competed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division Three state finals last weekend finishing in 20th place. The event was hosted by the Holland Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Sawyer Bishop finished fifth in diving with a score of 355.90. The performance earned him All-State Honors. Junior Jaden Vronko finished 11th in the 100 backstroke setting a new varsity record in his preliminary round swim (55.85) and improving again in finals on Saturday (55.46). The 200 medley relay team of Vronko, Ian Lundberg, Dylan Sniegowski and Grady Sailor finished in 12th place with a time of 1:41.93.

Sawyer Bishop, fifth place, stands at the podium.
“Jaden and Sawyer had amazing performances this weekend,” said LHS Coach Susan Sniegowski. “The meet was a great way to cap off an exciting season for our team.”
The Orioles had strong preliminary swims in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. The 200 free relay of Jaden Vronko, Evan Hansen, Nolan Jorissen and Easton Warners finished 29th. Vronko led off the relay with a lifetime best 50 free time of 23.99.
“The underclassmen really stepped up to swim this event,” said Sniegowski. “Having this experience of swimming at the state finals will help them lead the team next year.”
The 400 free relay of Sniegowski, Vronko, Lundberg and Sailor swam a season best time of 3:28.35 with Sniegowski setting a new personal best on the lead off leg with a time of 50.28. “While they came up short of their goal to advance to finals, by only .25, it was a great final swim of the preliminary session,” said Sniegowski “I’m really proud of all the hard work these guys have put in all season.”
