Obituary: Daniel ‘Dan’ Blackstone, 75, of Walhalla

Daniel “Dan” Blackstone, 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Walhalla. Born on July 21, 1951, in Westbrook, Maine, to Arnold and Shirley (Palsa) Blackstone, Dan grew up in an environment that fostered his outgoing and helpful nature.

A proud graduate of Pennfield High School, class of 1968, Dan furthered his education by earning a master’s degree. His passion for education led him to a fulfilling career as a teacher at Mason County Central Middle School, where he dedicated 32 years to educating and inspiring young minds.

Beyond his professional life, Dan was an avid enthusiast of golf, skiing, and woodworking. His love for local music and active involvement at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts were testaments to his vibrant and engaging personality.

Dan is survived by his brother, David Blackstone; sister-in-law, Bonnie Blackstone; nephew, Kevin (Julie) Blackstone; niece, Kelly (Karyn) Blackstone; great-niece, Olivia Blackstone; great-nephew, Alex Blackstone; and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Shirley Blackstone.

Dan’s legacy of kindness, mentorship, and community involvement will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Dan will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington.
