CADILLAC — The West Shore Wolves 12U B hockey team skated to an impressive championship victory last weekend, defeating the Mt. Pleasant Patriots 4–3 to claim the Hockey Night in Cadillac Osgood Division Tournament title at the Wexford County Civic Center (The Wex) in Cadillac.
In a hard-fought, back-and-forth championship game, the Wolves battled until the final buzzer, holding off a strong Patriots squad to secure the 4–3 win. The team showcased determination, discipline, and teamwork throughout the tournament, rising to the occasion against quality competition. Their championship performance reflects months of hard work, commitment to the process, and a standard of excellence set by the team and coaching staff.
“I’m incredibly proud of this group,” said Head Coach Nick Tykoski. “They played to the standards we’ve set all season and trusted the process every step of the way. When they compete the right way and play for each other, they’re a tough team to beat. This championship is a result of their hard work, discipline, and belief in one another.”
The 12U B roster includes:
- Kamden Benson-Carney – Mason County Central
- Parker Cassada – Reed City
- Cooper Elkins – Manistee
- Jeremiah Hayne – Ludington
- Andyn Miretti – Ludington Area Catholic
- Christopher Piekutowski – Ludington
- Charlie Pomeroy – Ludington
- Bryce Quillan – Ludington
- Graeme Reed – Ludington
- Troy Smith – Shelby
- Rex Vertz – Covenant Christian
- Beau Whitman – Ludington
As the team builds momentum heading into postseason play, the West Shore Wolves will host the Garden Wolves on March 7 at 3 p.m. at the West Shore Community Ice Arena in a highly anticipated “Wolf Pack vs. Wolf Pack” matchup. The game will follow a Try Hockey for Free program for kids up to 12 years old from noon to 1 p.m. with check-in beginning at 11 a.m. Following the youth clinic, families can enjoy an open skate before the 3 p.m. puck drop.
