LUDINGTON — Youth ages 5–12 are invited to join the new Coding Pit Crew 4‑H Club, a free hands‑on program running Thursday afternoons throughout March at the Mason County District Library Ludington branch, 217 E. Ludington Ave. Sessions will take place from 3:15–5 p.m. in the West Shore Bank Room.
Participants will work collaboratively using LEGO Spike Essentials and Sphero Indi cars to build, code, and complete challenges. The club emphasizes exploration, cooperation, and fun—no prior coding experience required.
“Coding builds critical thinking, logic, and problem-solving skills,” said Lori Cargill, 4‑H program coordinator. “Through hands‑on activities and teamwork, youth gain confidence in their ability to solve problems together.”
The program is offered at no cost through Michigan State University Extension’s 4‑H Youth Development Program, which provides accessible, educational experiences for young people across the state. Preregistration is required and families can enroll online at 4HOnline.com.
