LUDINGTON — The Ludington Orioles hosted the Manistee Mariners on Tuesday at the Donald C. Baldwin Community Pool. Ludington 200 freestyle relay team of seniors Dylan Sniegowski, Ian Lundberg, and Grady Sailor along with junior Jaden Vronko swam to a season best time of 2:32.13 which qualifies them for the Michigan High School Athletic Association division 3 state finals. The Oriole swimmers have now qualified all three relays for the state championships. “This is a great lead in to next weeks conference championships,” said coach Susan Sniegowski. “The whole team is stepping up their speed as we make this final push of the season”
The four swimmers also achieved a lifetime best time of 1:42.69 in the 200 medley relay to start off the meet with a winning race.
Standout performances of the night included junior Nolan Jorissen, lifetime best swims in both the 200 (2:14.06) and 100 (1:00.48) freestyle events.
Sophomore Diver Sawyer Bishop continues to improve on the board with a new personal best for six dives with a score of 251.
“One of the most exciting improvements of the night was freshman Griffin Jorissen dropping an impressive 47.81 in the 500 freestyle,” said Sniegowski.
Freshman Grayson Cogle also had a huge time improvement in the 100 butterfly (1:24.16) with a drop of 14.70 seconds. Freshman Evan Hansen swam a lifetime bests in both the 200 Individual Medley(2:49.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:27.81).
“It is great to see these kinds of improvements throughout the season. I am so proud of the work the team is putting in so far and look forward to the championship meets coming up next.” said Sniegowski.
