Paul Schroeder

Paul Jeffery Schroeder, 74, of Muskegon, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Paul was born on May 29, 1951, to the late Jack Schroeder and Barbara (Bogus) Schroeder.  Paul was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1969-1972. After his military service he worked as a machinist at Howmet Industries of Whitehall for over 30 years, retiring in 2015.

Paul was a devoted father and grandfather, known for his love of spending time with his family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking over an open fire at deer camp while preparing for the season, cooking meals for his family, and watching the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan football. Paul loved tinkering around the yard and hanging out in his camper.

Paul was a proud United States Army Vietnam veteran who never stopped showing up for his country. Every year, you could count on seeing him marching down Ludington Avenue in the Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades, proud to represent the Army and the men he served beside, honoring the ones who didn’t come home. Marching those parades was his way of remembering, of serving, and of staying connected to his brothers.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Heather Vernier; sons, Ian Schroeder, and Derrick (Denni) Schroeder; grandchildren, Kaira (Douglas) Ambrose, Jonathan (Cian) Cusack, James Vernier, Madison Vernier, Kegan (Faith) Stockton, Hayden Schroeder, Aajay Schroeder, August Schroeder, and Ocean Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Peyton Williams, and Harlan Ambrose; sister, Jennifer (Michael) O’Herron of Ludington, and brother Michael Schroeder of Muskegon; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Barbara Schroeder; infant son Joel Schroeder; and former wife Ellen Schroeder who preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2026.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held on May 23, 2026, at The American Legion Post 76 318 N James St, Ludington from 1 to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the celebration of life for Ellen Schroeder.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services, www.GraceCremations.com.
