SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — A 20-year-old Fountain man was arrested on a felony charge of assault by strangulation following a 911 call reporting a fight Monday, Feb. 16, shortly after 10:32 a.m. in the 4000 block of North Stephens Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
“During the altercation, it was alleged the suspect ‘choked the victim out’ from behind, said Sheriff Cole. The suspect was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Friday, Feb. 13, 2026:
- 6:15 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 25-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without a license following a traffic stop near Stearns Drive, City of Ludington.
Monday, Feb. 16, 2026:
- 2:04 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 28-year-old Custer man was arrested for methamphetamine possession and cocaine possession following a traffic stop, US 10-31, Amber Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 12:34 p.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Amber Township.
- 6:36 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 south of Johnson Road, Amber Township.
- 6:44 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, with injury, US 10 west of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township. A 24-year-old Monroe, Mich. woman received non-life-threatening injuries after she attempted to pull out of a parking lot and struck another vehicle.
Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026:
- 2:22 a.m., (MCSO), a 43-year-old Rockford, Mich. man was arrested for cocaine possession following a traffic stop, Jebavy Drive north of US 10, Pere Marquette Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 9 a.m., (MCSO), a 33-year-old Fowlerville, Mich. man turned himself in at the sheriff’s office on a three-count criminal sexual conduct warrant issued by the Michigan State Police, Hart post. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 10:15 p.m., (MCSO), a 23-year-old Custer man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop, Pere Marquette Highway and Conrad Road, Pere Marquette Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
