FREMONT — The Ludington Orioles earned a tough victory over the Fremont Packers in double overtime Friday. After tying Fremont in the first round of overtime, the Orioles managed to outscore them by one point to seal the game 49-48.
“It was an incredible night and a battle between two great teams and I am extremely happy that our girls were able to come out on top,” said LHS Coach Warren Stowe. “After a tough first half filled with turnovers and missed block outs, I was pleased with how we remained engaged and battled back fighting back from 10 down to start the fourth Quarter. It was a complete team effort and we did just enough to win.
“The energy on the bench willed us to some great possessions down the stretch. Jaelyn Laird tying the game and Madelyn Kenyon putting us up 1 with her free throw sealed it.”
The conference victory put the Orioles at 7-1 for the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division and 9-5 overall in the season.
