CADILLAC — Ludington participated in Jeff McDonald Memorial Showcase at Cadillac High School on Saturday. The Orioles defeated Elk Rapids 65-55.
Kyle Himes kept the Orioles in the game knocking down three first half triples as the Orioles went to the break trailing 28-27. After the back and forth first half the Elks took control early in the third period and extended their lead to 43-36. On the first possession of the fourth quarter the Orioles extended their lead to nine at 45-36 and that’s when the Orioles began to claw back.
Taj Williams led the charge in the fourth scoring 11 of his 21 points. The Orioles built their lead to 53-47 with a minute left but Mason Cannon knocked down back to back 3 pointers to send the game to overtime.
The Elks scored the first basket of overtime to take a two point lead before the Orioles ran off 12 in a row to pull away and take the victory. Ludington upped its record to 13-1 while Elk Rapids dropped to 10-3.
