Repeat offender arraigned on multiple drug charges

LUDINGTON — Allen Mallison, 37, of Ludington was arraigned today in 79th District Court on multiple drug charges in relation to an arrest that occurred at a local hotel.

Mallison was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Friday morning, Jan. 23, after they followed up on a tip related to possible drug activity at a local hotel on US 10, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

At 1:30 a.m., a deputy spotted a “subject of interest” walking quickly away. “When approaching the suspect, he was found to be carrying a backpack,” said Sheriff Cole. “A search warrant was obtained for the backpack, and nearly 40 grams of suspected meth and several grams of fentanyl and cocaine were recovered from the backpack.”

Mallison has been charged with one count of controlled substance, deliver/manufacture methamphetamine and two counts of controlled substance deliver/manufacture of a narcotic/cocaine. He is currently lodged at the Mason County Jail on a $50,000 bond. A preliminary examination in 79th District Court is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m.

Mallison is a repeat offender. In 2021, he was found guilty of methamphetamine possession and was sentenced to 17 days in jail and two years probation. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance and was sentenced to 93 days in jail. In 2015, he was found guilty of two counts of first-degree retail fraud. He was sentenced to one year in jail, serving 10 months up front and two years probation.

In 2015, he was found guilty of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and second-offense domestic violence. He was sentenced to two concurrent terms of one year in jail, serving 93 days up front and 18 months probation. Also that year, he was charged with stealing TVs from Walmart and Meijer and had been caught in possession of crack cocaine.
