LUDINGTON — A 53-year-old man faces eight felony counts in Mason County’s 79th District Court in connection to a child sex case.
John Edward Engelsman is charged with two counts of child sexually abusive commercial activity, one count of accosting children for immoral purposes, three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and two counts of felony firearms.
The case involves an undercover officer posing a male juvenile.
The offense date listed in Engelsman’s court file for all eight counts is Jan. 11, 2026. He was arrested by the Ludington Police Department and remains lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $250,000/cash/surety bond, according to court records.
A preliminary exam is scheduled for Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
