BRANCH TOWNSHIP — Two people were transported to the hospital following a two vehicle crash on US 10 Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026. Emergency personnel were called to the scene, in front of Pioneer Party Store, 6117 E. US 10, about 10:30 a.m.
According to Michigan State Police Trooper Matt Demny, the crash involved two vehicles, a 2011 Toyota and a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The Toyota was westbound on US 10 and was in the process of passing a vehicle when the drive of the pickup pulled out of the gas station parking lot heading east.
The Toyota was driven by a 34-year-old Branch Township woman, who is pregnant. The driver and her passenger, a 25-year-old Branch Township man, were transported by ambulance to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The couple’s dog, unijured, was also transported in the ambulance.
The drive of the pickup, a 77-year-old Branch Township man, received minor injuries that were treated at the scene.
In addition to the damage to the vehicles, a fence on the gas station’s property line was also damaged. The pickup truck contained a load of firewood that was scattered alongside the road.
No tickets were issued.
Emergency personnel responding included Michigan State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Branch Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, and Life EMS.
