MONTAGUE — Three Mason County Central wrestlers placed at the Lady Mat Cat Invitational held Sunday, Dec. 28 at Montague High School.
“The Lady Mat Cat invitational is one of the premier girls’ tournaments in the state,” said MCC Coach Kendel Trim.
Junior Raelyn Wilson, 135 pounds, placed fifth in the A Bracket. She defeated Lydia Hartzell by fall in the fifth place match.
Freshman Caitlyn Barrington, 125 pounds, won third place in the B Bracket by defeating Lexi Johnson of Holton by fall at 1:57.
Freshman Abbey Willoughby, 155 pounds, won fifth place 5th place in B Bracket by defeating Aerika Roberts of Manistee by fall at 1:52.
“The girls wrestled well today and it was a great experience for all of them,” Trim said. “We should be able to build on this to improve this season.”
Pine River won the 60-team tournament followed by Lowell.
