VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The Lakeshore Badgers took a tough loss on their home ice Saturday, Dec. 20. The Badgers were defeated 8-0 by Kalamazoo United.
“We chased the game for the first period, entering the intermission down 5-0,” said Badgers Coach Brian Zatloukal. “Coming out of the intermission, we played with intensity and increased our physical play. We had several scoring opportunities, but were not able to break through. Kalamazoo was able to tack on three more goals in the period which brought the game to a conclusion after two periods, with an 8-0 loss.
“I was proud of the way the team responded in the second period,” Zatloukal. “We killed the only power play in the game and were able to limit Kalamazoo’s leading scorer to a goal and an assist. We’ll look to regroup in practice over the holidays with our next games being on the road on January 2 and 3 in the Detroit area against the Brother Rice Varsity B team and New Boston United.
The Lakeshore Badgers is a cooperative team hosted by Manistee Area Public Schools and consisting of high school players from MAPS, Ludington, Mason County Central, Mason County Eastern, Pentwater, Shelby and Hart.
