
Norman Tafelski
Norman Joseph Tafelski, 66, of Ludington, died Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids after a four and half year battle with cancer. He was born June 27, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John and Barbara (Martin) Tafelski.
Norman served 23 1/2 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring as a senior chief boatswain’s mate in 2001. In his spare time, Norman loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church for many years.
On May 5, 1984, in Ludington, Norman married Pattie Dee Hanna, who survives him. He is also survived by: his daughter, Sara Tafelski; his stepbrother, Rick Merritt; his aunt, Judy Hollenbeck; three brothers-in-law, Rodger (Karen) Enos, Dennis Enos and Jerry (Sonya) Hanna; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and his sister, Sandra Smith.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Grace Episcopal Church, in Ludington, with Father Mick Shriver officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. Graveside committal services with Military Honors will be held at a later date.
