Dear Editor,
The Oriole Giving Tree consists of a small group of volunteers committed to brightening the holidays for Oriole students and their families in need. Through year round fundraising efforts and generous donations, this holiday season we were able to support 100 students and their families. Each family received a gift card to be used at a special shopping event, a tub of personal/household items, and points at the Lakeshore Food Club to be used toward a holiday meal.
We are so grateful to all the area businesses who sell our community cookbook, annual earrings and annual ornaments, as well as the artists who create them. We have also been fortunate to be the benefactor of various business and organizations’ fundraisers, as well as the recipient of numerous donated prizes and services to aid in our fundraising efforts. We are consistantly reminded that we live in a community that cares about its children.
Our work is never done. While we celebrate this year’s giving, we are already beginning to fundraise for next year. We encourage you to follow The Oriole Giving Tree Project on Facebook to watch for special products and events. Feel free to contact oriolegivingtree@gmail.com for more information.
