Local family to match final donations to foundation’s Campaign for Mason County

December 18, 2025

LUDINGTON — The Community Foundation for Mason County is in the final stretch of its Campaign for Mason County, a $5 million initiative launched last winter to triple the organization’s grant-making power. While the foundation has successfully met the planned giving portion of the goal, it is now in the home stretch of completing the cash side of the campaign with $163,812 left to raise.

This week, local philanthropists Todd and Julie Schrader stepped forward with a commitment to contribute up to $81,906 from their family fund—covering half of the remaining goal—by matching every dollar donated.

The Campaign for Mason County was designed to address urgent community needs and opportunities, ensuring long-term stability and growth. Funds will support initiatives that impact education, workforce supports, and recreation—such as critical housing repairs for families, weekend food programs for students, care for vulnerable adults, expanded access to education, and connecting recreational trails.

“We are incredibly moved by the Schraders’ leadership and their commitment to the future of our community,” said Andrea Large, executive director of the Community Foundation for Mason County. “This match provides a powerful opportunity for our donors to see their impact doubled. Every gift made now is an investment in a stronger Mason County, ensuring we have the permanent resources necessary to foster collaboration and create lasting change for generations to come.”

Contributions to the Campaign for Mason County can be made online through the foundation’s website, mason-foundation.org, or by mailing a check with the campaign name in the memo line to 119 S. Rath Ave., Ludington, MI 49431. The foundation also accepts gifts of appreciated assets, such as stocks and bonds, as well as Qualified Charitable Distributions for those aged 70½ or older.

For more information regarding the campaign or how to contribute to the match, please contact the Community Foundation for Mason County at info@cffmc.org or call 231-845-0326.
