MCBAIN — Mason County Eastern’s junior varsity and varsity teams experienced tough losses Monday, Dec. 15, against McBain Northern Michigan Christian.
The Cardinals varsity team lost 73-47 while the JV was defeated 53-6.
“I’ve got to figure out a way to have better 2nd halves,” said MCE Varsity Coach Austin Boundy. “Giving up second chance points and fouling is killing us. But, our guys played hard and didn’t back down. Danny (Bothwell) did the little things right and played hard.”

Cardinal JV Coach Abe Shoup said his team faced challenges with McBain’s taller team, but the Cardinals put up a fight.
“The height and athleticism of our opponents was a lot to handle, but no one backed down from the challenge and I’m proud of that,” Shoup said. “If we can’t be tall, we can at least be pesky so in the second half we really picked up the defensive pressure and held them to just 5 points. I’ll take that any time against any team.”
