SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central defeated North Muskegon Thursday, Dec. 11, 34-33. The win was the Spartans first of the season following a loss to Manistee Tuesday.
The win didn’t come easy, however.
“We had a rough game but pulled it out against a really well coached and scrappy North Muskegon team,” said Spartan Coach Brent Lyon. “Maddie Norton hit four huge free throws and Jaycee Myer made the game winning 3 with three seconds to play.”
As the new varsity coach, it was also Lyon’s first win.
“It was exciting to have my first win as varsity coach,” Lyon said.
The win over the Norsemen takes Central to 1-1 for the season and 1-0 in West Michigan Conference Rivers Division. MCC The Spartans will play Hesperia at home on Tuesday, Dec. 16 for the team’s second Rivers Division match of the season.
