HESPERIA — The Hesperia Panthers defeated the Mason County Eastern Cardinals both teams’ boys varsity basketball opener Tuesday 63-51.
“Some of our key guys got into foul trouble early so we had to change our game plan very early and on the fly,” said MCE Coach Austin Boundy. “The guys handled that well and some other guys stepped up, such as Afton Shoup who had an excellent game on the boards and played a very physical game. We also got some physicality on the defense end from Josh Rogers which help create steals to keep us in the game. I saw a lot of positives that we can keep building on.”
High scorer for the Cardinals was Milo Shoup with 17 points followed by Josh Rogers at 12 points and Afton Shoup at 9 points.
Malakai Selens and Keegan Roberson were top scorers for the Panthers with 14 points each. Nate Sherburn scored 10 points.
