LUDINGTON — Miss Sawyer’s Kids with A Cause has officially launched its annual Christmas Stocking Project.
The youth-led nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to supporting veterans and active duty military personnel, aims to send more than 10,000 hand-stuffed Christmas stockings to U.S. service members stationed around the world.
Each stocking is assembled by founder Sawyer Hendrickson, and her small army of community volunteers. The stockings are filled with snacks, candy, home baked cookies, hand knit hats, and a personally signed Christmas card from Sawyer. The goal: to bring a moment of joy, connection, and gratitude to the men and women spending the holiday season far from their families.
“Every stocking is packed with love, appreciation, and the reminder that our service members are never forgotten,” said Henrickson, a Ludington High School student who founded her organization when she was just 6 years old. “This stocking project would not happen without the help of our volunteers and generous donors who believe in bringing joy to our active duty military members and easing the loneliness of deployment during the holidays.”
The organization is accepting monetary donations to help cover shipping costs and the increase in stocking requests. It is also seeking corporate sponsors.
