PAW PAW — The Hook & Catch Wrestling/Jiu-Jitsu Club of Ludington competed in three separate events during the Thug Trials at the Performance Fieldhouse Saturday, Nov. 22. Both youth and adult athletes represented the club in wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and mixed martial arts bouts.
One standout performance of the night came from BJJ Blue Belt Jacob Maidens, who made his professional grappling debut with the Thug Trials Submission Grappling Organization, based out of Kalamazoo. The event marked the largest Jiu-Jitsu event in Michigan to date, streamed live on pay-per-view.
“In front of a sold-out crowd, Jacob delivered a dominant performance, earning a submission victory and securing himself a future title shot at the next Thug Trials event, scheduled for early winter 2026,” said coach Corey Ottgen.
Maidens trains and coaches at Hook & Catch Wrestling/Jiu-Jitsu Club, located at 3408 W. US 10, Suite 3, in Pere Marquette Township.
