George Edward Foster, 86, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Oakview Medical Care Facility.
George was born on December 14, 1938, to Roland and Valentine Foster. He was born in Ludington, where he spent his entire life. George grew up playing several sports but truly had a passion for football. He was a staple of the community and enjoyed bowling and playing in golf leagues, as well as spending time with his many grandchildren. He was often seen wearing funny shirts and cheering on the Ludington Orioles. He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion, and enjoyed serving his community. Whether it was painting or drywalling, George was always willing to give a helping hand or an encouraging word.
George married Marcella (Drier) Foster on April 3, 1965, in Centerville, followed by a honeymoon to the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. Together they raised two sons, Marc and Scott Foster. He worked many years as a skilled tradesman and retired from the City of Ludington Department of Public Works after 23 years of service.
George is survived by his children: Marc (Tammy) and Scott (Sarah); grandchildren: RJ (Naomi) Krzyanowski and Aranda, Cassidy, Trinity, and Addison; and great grandchildren: Eloise, Joey, and Ayla; and sister Genieve Zwinger and sister-in-law Pat Foster; brothers in-law, William (Roberta) Gillett, Bruce (Brenda) Gillett, and Barry Gillett; sister in-laws Beth (David) Dufon, Janice Drier, Donna Drier and Judy Drier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Valentine Foster; wife Marcella; sisters Sandra Dole and Beverly Lathers; brother Gerald Foster; sisters-in-law Marlene Pinkerton and Beverly Nichols; brothers-in-law Marvin “Moose” Drier, Merlin “Mert” Drier, Bob Pinkerton, and Maurice “Jock” Drier.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home, visitation begins at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
