Community foundation launching Wish List Wednesdays

November 11, 2025
LUDINGTON – The Community Foundation for Mason County is launching its inaugural Wish List Wednesday on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025. The one-day initiative encourages the community to grant wishes submitted by local nonprofits, kicking off the giving season. Wish List Wednesday will be recognized by the Community Foundation annually on the second Wednesday of November, serving as a special day to highlight newly published Community Wish Lists.

This year, 88 “wishes” totaling more than $179,000 were submitted by Mason County nonprofit organizations, reflecting needs in the areas of the arts, youth development, the environment, community development, and health and human services.

“We are building on the success of our long-standing Community Wish Lists,” said Andrea Large, executive director of the Community Foundation. “Wish List Wednesday is a fantastic opportunity to support the incredible work of our local nonprofits. By granting a wish, you can directly impact organizations operating with tight budgets and help them continue to provide vital services to our community.”

The Community Wish Lists have been a key part of philanthropy in Mason County for eight years. In 2024 alone, the community’s generosity resulted in 23 wishes granted, totaling more than $29,000.

Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters (COVE) was the beneficiary of a donation spurred by the 2024 Community Wish Lists.

“Last year, Matthew Six Construction recognized one of COVE’s urgent needs and generously provided brand-new snow tires for our agency van,” said Amanda Nassor, executive director of COVE. “This van is more than just transportation—it is an essential tool that allows our advocates to safely reach survivors in rural areas, provide transportation to court hearings and medical appointments, and deliver supplies and support to families in shelter. Thanks to this contribution, COVE was able to continue these essential services safely throughout the winter months, ensuring survivors and their children were never without access to critical resources.”

Individuals, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to participate in Wish List Wednesday by exploring the complete list of wishes. The lists are categorized by funding level—less than $500, between $500 and $1,500, and over $1,500—and by focus area, making it easy to find a project that aligns with personal interests or financial goals. The full list is available at https://mason-foundation.org/community-wishlist/.

While the community is encouraged to respond to needs on Wish List Wednesday, the event is also a prime opportunity to select one or more specific wishes to fund on nationally recognized Giving Tuesday, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025. The fall 2025 Community Wish Lists will be available throughout the rest of 2025 for year-end gift ideas; the most current wish lists are always present under the “Giving” tab at www.mason-foundation.org.

To grant a wish, donors who do not have a fund with the Community Foundation are asked to contact the nonprofit organization directly to fulfill their wish. Individuals who have a donor advised fund with the Community Foundation can contact the Foundation to recommend a grant from their fund to make an impact.

All donors are asked to notify the Community Foundation if they grant a wish so the Foundation can accurately mark the item as funded and celebrate their generosity.

The Community Foundation for Mason County encourages everyone to explore the Community Wish Lists and help fulfill the 88 requests to support organizations that make Mason County a vibrant place to live and work.
