Lisa Scholten-Riley
Lisa Ann (Schumacher) Scholten-Riley, 61, of Walhalla, formerly of South Lyon and Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Lisa was born on November 2, 1963, in Mancelona, to Mary (Wiltzus) and Thomas Schumacher. She graduated from East Kentwood High School in 1981 and went on to build a remarkable career and a beautiful life centered around family, purpose, and joy.
Lisa married Donald Riley in 2007, and together they built a life rooted in love, full of laughter, weekend projects, and shared adventures—always finding time to escape to the Island, where the waves and sand became their favorite place to relax and make memories.
For the past 18 years, Lisa was a dedicated and accomplished professional at United Wholesale Mortgage, where she held many roles and most recently served as AVP of Wholesale Development. Her work ethic, leadership, and passion made a lasting impact on her colleagues and the company as a whole.
Outside of work, Lisa brought light to every life she touched. She was known for her caring spirit, generous heart, and vibrant personality. She loved to cook and entertain, often gathering family and friends for meals filled with conversation and laughter. Lisa found joy in her garden, where her vegetables and flowers flourished under her care, and peace at the beach—especially on the shores of Sint Maarten, her favorite escape. Above all, she was happiest when spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Donald Riley, and her devoted family: her mother Mary (Darwin) Jenson; sons James (Emma) Scholten and Chad (Candi) Scholten; stepdaughters Rita (Adam) White and Rachel Riley; her adored grandchildren Parker and Austin Scholten; brother, Todd (Angela) Jenson; and sister, Tara Jenson. She also leaves behind countless friends, coworkers, and extended family members who were touched by her kindness and vivacious spirit.
Lisa’s heart had room for everyone- including her beloved pets. She will be deeply missed by: Zappa, LuLu, Pebbles, Annabelle, Tillie, and Mamie, who brought her so much companionship and joy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Schumacher, along with several cherished aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home, 3060 W. US 10, Ludington.
