VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The West Shore Community College Theater Department invites audiences to journey deep into the enchanted forest with its fall musical production of “Into the Woods”, opening Friday, Oct. 17 at the Center Stage Theater.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17–18, 24–25, and Nov. 1, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 19, 25–26, and Nov. 1–2.
Blending some of the world’s most beloved fairy tales with a darkly humorous and thought-provoking twist, “Into the Woods” brings together characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, and a humble baker and his wife as they each set out to fulfill their deepest wishes. As their journeys unfold, they discover that every wish comes with a price — and that “happily ever after” isn’t always what it seems.
Featuring music and lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, this Tony Award–winning musical delivers a rich, emotional score paired with timeless lessons about love, loss, and the consequences of choice.
“This production is an absolute joy to bring to life,” said Michelle Kiessel, WSCC’s director of theater. “It’s a story that reminds us that our choices connect us all and that the magic of storytelling can still reveal something new every time.”
The production runs approximately two and a half hours with one intermission and is rated PG-13 for thematic content.
