The building has been re-opened
LUDINGTON — Following a threat Friday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2025, the Ludington Municipal Building was closed to the public temporarily. According to a press release from the Ludington Police Department, the department received a phone call in which a threat was made against the department. The caller indicated an intent to drive a vehicle into the Ludington Police Department building, posing a potential risk to both city and police department personnel.
The threat was received after regular business hours at the Ludington Municipal Offices. In response, the Ludington Police Department took immediate precautionary measures by closing the office to ensure the safety of all civilian staff working within the building.
To secure the premises, temporary barricades were placed at key access points, including parking lot entrances and areas vulnerable to vehicle intrusion.
Following an initial investigation, the threat was deemed not credible. As a result, the barricades were removed, and normal operations have resumed. The municipal building is now open to the public, and all scheduled city meetings will proceed as planned.
The incident remains under active investigation for potential criminal charges. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sgt. Austin Morris at morris217@ci.ludington.mi.us or Detective Jacob Miller at miller209@ci.ludington.mi.us.
