LUDINGTON — A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 14 months to 15 years in prison in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Sept. 16, for convictions of assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
Jeremy Eric Bolan pleaded guilty to the charges Aug. 5.
“The victim was his ex-girlfriend, but they were maintaining a relationship of sorts,” explained Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Beth Hand. “The weapon was a knife.”
Bolan served previous prison terms for Newaygo County convictions of carrying a concealed weapon and assault with a deadly weapon — concurrent terms of one and a half to 10 years and one and a half to eight years in 2022, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records. In 2010, he was sentenced in Newaygo County to eight to 30 years in prison for assault with intent to commit murder, according to MDOC records.
He was paroled April 16, 2024, according to MDOC, and then committed the latest offenses Jan. 19, 2025, court records state.
“The sentence is consecutive to his parole violation,” said Prosecutor Hand. “He was returned to prison on Feb. 11, 2025 and will begin his sentence on the current case today with no credit for the time he has been in thus far.”
Bolan is incarcerated at the Central Correctional Facility in St. Louis, Mich., according to MDOC records.
