Wally Cain of Men Who Care of Mason County, right, hands a “check” to Jason Robbins.
By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief
LUDINGTON — Men Who Care of Mason County recently donated $2,900 to Hospitality In the Name of Christ (INC), which operates a seasonal emergency men’s homeless shelter. According to Jason Robbins, executive director of shelter, said all the proceeds will be used for laundry facilities.
Robbins said the organization spent $3,650 on laundry services in 2024 and $3,428 to date in 2025. The shelter is open from Nov. 1 to April 30.
“That’s about 880 pounds of laundry,” Robbins said.
Hospitality INC is in its 17th season and was initially started by local churches.
“Our mission is living the Gospel of Jesus Christ by proving safe emergency shelter for homeless men during the winter months,” Robbins said. “We are activity seeking volunteers to work in a variety of capacities this coming season. We are looking for people who desire to serve, whether that’s coming in for an evening visit, staying the night or helping with meals.”
Those utilizing the shelter are only allowed there during the evening.
Robbins said the shelter, located at the Salvation Army Church, 1101 S. Madison St., has been undergoing some improvements such as painting and a new shower facility.
Though it is located at the church, Hospitality INC is a private non-profit organization.
Men Who Care of Mason County was founded earlier this year. During its quarterly meetings, local non-profit charitable organizations are nominated for pitches from one of the attendees. Three groups are picked at random and the spokesman has five minutes to give a pitch. The group then votes. Each man in attendance vows to donate $50 to the organization that is chosen. Women Who Care of Mason County has been meeting for several years.
