August 21, 2025

LUDINGTON — The Cartier Mansion Bed & Breakfast, 409 E. Ludington Ave., has come in second place in the Newsweek Readers’ Choice Award for Best Historical B&B in America for 2025. The achievement marks the second consecutive year the mansion has received a top honor.

Built in 1905, the Cartier Mansion is a stunning example of neoclassical architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its exterior is distinguished by Roman pressed brick and Bedford limestone, while the interior is a showcase of exquisite craftsmanship, featuring mahogany, oak, cherry, and walnut woodwork, all complemented by meticulously preserved period antiques and fine art.

“We are incredibly honored to be named a top historical B&B by Newsweek readers for a second year in a row,” said Jenna Simpler, owner of Cartier Mansion. “This designation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to preserving the mansion’s legacy and providing truly extraordinary experiences for our guests. We are so grateful for the support of our community and loyal guests who made this possible.”

Guests at the Cartier Mansion enjoy an immersive historical experience seamlessly blended with modern comforts. Their stay includes daily gourmet breakfasts prepared with locally sourced ingredients, lavish amenities, high-speed Wi-Fi, personalized climate control, and state-of-the-art entertainment.

“Cartier Mansion’s continued recognition from a publication as respected as Newsweek further solidifies Ludington’s reputation as a premier destination for history and hospitality,” said Brandy Miller, executive director of the Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This B&B perfectly embodies our community’s rich heritage, offering a truly authentic and immersive historical experience that draws visitors from all over the country.”

The Cartier Mansion was selected by a distinguished panel of travel experts and Newsweek editors as one of the country’s top historical B&Bs and was subsequently voted number one by readers nationwide.
