Women Who Care, Men Who Care groups to meet Tuesday

Women Who Care of Mason County will meet at the United Methodist Church, 5810 Bryant Road, at 5:30 p.m. Men Who Care of Mason County will meet at the People’s Church, 115 W. Loomis St., also at 5:30 p.m.

During the short meetings, members nominate Mason County non-profit organizations to be considered as a beneficiary. Three nominees are randomly selected and a five-minute pitch is made on behalf of that charity. The members then vote. The winner receives a donation of $50 from each member.

The membership of Women Who Care of Mason is currently at 177. If every member honors her commitment of $50 per quarter to the chosen nominee, that selectee can walk away with approximately $8,850. A challenge goal in November of 2024 raised $10,728 for the Oriole Giving Tree. Women Who Care of Mason County has currently raised approximately $247,000 for local non-profits since 2017. Helping Others Prosper was the non-profit selected at the May meeting. They were presented with donations of $9,040.  An update of how the donations were used to help their organization will be presented at the August meeting.

Men Who Care, which was organized at the beginning of this year, currently has 65 members, who each commit $50. HELP Ministries was the non-profit selected at the May meeting and received $3,275.
