Tire slashing, gunfire lead to arrest

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 46-year-old Branch man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies on charges of felony domestic assault and damaging property Sunday, July 13, around 5:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of East Chauvez Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The man was arrested following a 911 call in which “the caller had reported her tires on her vehicle were slashed,” said Sheriff Cole. “During the investigation, it was discovered the suspect reportedly had a gun and discharged it in the direction of the caller.”

No one was injured.

• 1:46 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway south of US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
• 4:59 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Johnson Road east of LaSalle Road, Amber Township.
• 5:53 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
• 8:33 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 20-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without insurance, Washington Avenue and Filer Street, City of Ludington.

Saturday, July 12, 2025:

• 1:15 a.m., (MCSO), a 48-year-old Sarasota, Florida man was arrested for fentanyl possession and methamphetamine possession following a one-vehicle crash, Stickney and Custer roads, Eden Township. No one was injured.
• 8:30 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Ehler Road near Jebavy Drive, Hamlin Township.
• 9:43 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road east of Stephens Road, Sherman Township.
• 10:08 a.m., (LPD), a 21-year-old Ludington man cited for driving while license suspended, Sixth Street and Pere Marquette Highway, City of Ludington.
• 3:11 p.m., (MCSO), larceny of mail, 1500 block of North Dennis Road, Amber Township.
• 4:04 p.m., (MCSO), trespassing and damaged property, 5400 block of East Fountain Road, Sherman Township. Trees and a yard were damaged.
• 9:32 p.m., (LPD), a 46-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without insurance, Filer and Staffon streets, City of Ludington.
• 11:23 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Freeman Road, Free Soil Township.
• 11:27 p.m., (LPD), a 36-year-old Free Soil man was cited for driving without insurance, Filer and Staffon streets, City of Ludington.

Sunday, July 13, 2025:

• 1:58 am, (LPD), a 39-year-old Ludington man was arrested on drug charges after officers located drugs and paraphernalia inside his vehicle, Copeyon Park, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 9:30 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
• 10:57 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, 3400 block of North Stearns Road, Hamlin Township.
• 12:21 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Victory Drive west of Peterson Road, Victory Township.
• 2:10 p.m., (LPD), a 38-year-old Scottville woman was cited for driving while license suspended, 900 block of North Washington Avenue, City of Ludington.
• 3:04 p.m., (LPD), a 39-year-old Ludington woman was cited for driving while license suspended, Bryant and Harrison streets, City of Ludington.
