WEARE TOWNSHIP, Oceana County — The AgriScience Everywhere day camp was held this week at the West Michigan Research Station. The camp, sponsored by the West Shore Educational Service District, taught students in grades 5 through 8 about various areas of agriculture. During the four days of class, instructor Erika Fatura, a teacher at Pentwater Public Schools, led the students in exploring various aspects of agriculture. Some of those topics included learning about the research station itself and its farm operation; visiting the Gourmet Mushroom plant in Scottville; visiting the ESD’s Summit Tech Center agriscience facilities; and learning about technology in farming, specifically the use of unmanned aircraft systems, also known as drones.
