51st Circuit Court sentencings: Home invasion, car theft yield prison term

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court:

Smith

– Rob Roger Smith, 32, pleaded guilty May 6 to unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle/car theft and was sentenced July 1 to five to 40 years in prison with credit for 97 days served and $198 in fines and costs. In a second case, Smith pleaded guilty May 6 to two counts of second-degree home invasion and was sentenced July 1 to a concurrent term of five to 40 years in prison with credit for 97 days served and $266 in fines and costs.

Willard

– Taylor James Willard, 31, pleaded guilty Feb. 25 to two counts of larceny in a building and was sentenced July 1 to three days in jail with credit for three days served; two years probation; $3,020 in restitution; and $966 in fines and costs.

Sayles

– John Thomas Sayles Jr., 22, pleaded guilty May 6 to tampering with evidence and accessory to a felony after the fact and was sentenced July 1 to one year in jail with credit for four days served; three years probation; and $666 in fines and costs. Two counts of felony firearms were dismissed.

Hurley

– Steven Deland Hurley, 56, pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and was sentenced July 1 to seven months in jail with credit for six days served and $466 in fines and costs.
