Barbara Trayer
After a long life of serving family and friends through acts of caring, kindness, and generosity, Barbara Ann Trayer went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Barbara was born on May 31, 1930, to Claire and Vera Marguerite Clark in Pontiac. She graduated from Pontiac High School and went on to Bob Jones University where she met her future husband, Gordon Trayer. They were married in the First Baptist Church of Pontiac on June 20, 1953.
She committed herself to being a stay-at-home mom to care for their children. In later years, after her children were grown, she was employed as a bookkeeper for a car dealership and then as a para-professional in an elementary school where she loved helping students learn to read and assisting teachers in the classroom.
Barbara Trayer was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ludington where she took great enjoyment in generously meeting the needs of her church family through the giving of gifts.
A Bible verse that Barbara’s life exemplified was, “For I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.” Philippians 4:11.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband, Gordon.
She is survived by her five children; Brenda (Marty) Price, Michele (Mark) Woods, Lisa (Mark) Barnett, Kevin (Shelly) Trayer, Wendy McClellan; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 10am to noon at Grace Funeral Home, formerly Oak Grove Funeral of Ludington. A private graveside service will be held at a later time that day.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Calvary Baptist Church of Ludington, or Elara Caring Hospice.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services (formerly Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington).
