Keith Paul Keegstra, 70, passed away peacefully at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with his two brothers by his side on Saturday, June 14, 2025, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Keith was born on October 6, 1954, in Grand Rapids, the son of the late Harold and Gertrude (Kohvakka) Keegstra and graduated from Ludington High School in 1972.
After graduation, Keith joined the United States Navy, serving two years active and three years reserve. After serving in the military, he worked many years as an auto mechanic at Rick’s Classic Cars in Ludington.
Keith was an avid outdoorsman spending many hours cutting and splitting wood, dabbling in his garden, and feeding and observing the wildlife around him.
Keith is survived by his brother Brian (Olga) Keegstra of Brooksville, Maine and Bruce (Mary) Keegstra of Walhalla.
He is also survived by his nephew Scott (Sarah) Keegstra and children Caleb, Kadence and Phoenix; nieces Ophelia (Chris) Perkins and daughter Marissa, and Karen Mohr and children Lilli, Joshua, Charlie, and Ben.
In addition to his parents Harold and Gertrude Keegstra, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gary Keegstra and Eric Keegstra.
Those who wish to remember Keith with a memorial donation are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan or Mason County Animal Control.
Per Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
