Larry James Sorensen, 77, of Ludington, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday June 8, 2025.

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War era as a paratrooper. During his lifetime, he performed over 100 jumps.

Larry enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a long-time member of the Danish Brotherhood and the American Legion.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Mel) Gilman; stepsons, Aaron Cooper and Chad White; one stepdaughter Shannon Braun; grandchildren Michael Henderson, Bradley Gilman, Melyssa (Trever) Baker, Typhannie (Alisha) Gilman, Alex (Sarah) Decanter; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Max (Donna) Sorensen of Lebanon, Oregon, Paul (Phyllis) Sorensen of Scottville, Linda (John) Gillis of Ludington.

Larry was proceeded in death by his father Max (Nina) Sorensen; his mother Arleth (Milo) Brickley; brothers, Gary James Sorensen and Wallace Loren Sorensen; his wife, Darlene Sorensen; and his second wife, Hope Aleta Sorensen.

Larry will be missed very much by his family and friends.

A visitation for Larry will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Following the funeral service, Larry will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. A luncheon at the Danish Brotherhood will follow the graveside service.
