HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — The Ludington State Park has announced its June 2025 programs and events (see related story for the Friends of the Ludington State Park). Events include:
Dune Ecology – Michigan’s Center of Biodiversity
Sunday, June 1 and 8: 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 14: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Starting at the Ludington State Park Amphitheater
Participants will explore the unique dune ecosystems of Ludington State Park and why the shifting sands create homes for some of the most unique plants and animals in Michigan.
Macroinvertibrates – Little Insects with a Big Impact
Sunday, June 15 and Saturday, June 21: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Starting at the Ludington State Park Amphitheater
There is a library of knowledge lurking under water at Ludington State Park. A large number of the flying insects spend their childhood living underneath the water. Taking a look at mayflies, dragonflies and more we will unlock their secrets and learn about Ludington’s aquatic ecosystem health.
Beginner Friendly Fishing at the Big Sable River
Saturday, June 28th: 12:30 through 3:30 p.m. (arrive and leave as you please)
Starting at the Ludington State Park Amphitheater and walking to the Sable River Trail
Experience fishing the Big Sable River at Ludington State Park. Come and learn a new skill, spend some time relaxing along the river and maybe even catch a fish or two. Bringing a pole is encouraged but limited poles will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. All bait will be provided.
All fishing participants 17 years of age or older will require a Michigan fishing license.
Cancellation of any events will be announced two hours prior to the scheduled start time. Cancellations may be made for poor weather conditions and/or safety concerns. Cancellations will be announced through the Ludington State Park Facebook page and website or will be announced on the Ludington State Park’s answering machine (231) 843-2423 ext 1.
