Judee Larsen

Judee Ellen Larsen (Vanden Heuvel), 82, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at her home in Scottville. Born on July 5, 1942, in Hart, she was a cherished figure in her community and a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew her.

Judee attended Hart High School, graduating in the class of 1960. Her entrepreneurial spirit and drive shone brightly as she and her husband, Warren, built Larsen Farms, dedicating 55 years to its success before she retired in 2018. Together they nurtured the farm into a premier landmark of west Michigan. Her community honored her hard work and dedication when she was named Homemaker of the Year at the Western Michigan Fair.

A devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer and Our Lady of the Gulf in Gulf Shores, Ala., Judee lived her faith actively and with great devotion.

Living life at full throttle, Judee was a champion of the Arctic Cat Snowmobile Racing circuit. She cherished her time at the family cottage in the Upper Peninsula and her home in Gulf Shores. Judee loved life and lived it loudly. Her hobbies included creating greeting cards, scrapbooking, traveling, shopping, and exploring flea markets. Judee was an avid reader and card player; she enjoyed canasta along with watching football and basketball.

Family was central to Judee’s life. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Karen) Larsen of Scottville, Brigitte Larsen of Chicago, Beth (Eric) Pobojewski of Custer and Grand Rapids, and Burke (Lisa) Larsen of Scottville; grandchildren, Logan Larsen, Bodhi and Caden Pobojewski, Lindsay (Hayley) Bliss, Leta and Leah Larsen; and her sister, Marjorie (Douglas) Leafstrand. She also shared a special bond with her “sister from another mother”, Joyce Usiak.

Judee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren Bruce Larsen, in 2013; her parents, Henry and Genevieve (Kokx) Vanden Heuvel; siblings, David Vanden Heuvel, Richard (Janice) Vanden Heuvel, and Charlene Greiner Lound; brothers-in-law, Ronald Greiner and Donald Lound; and her adored grand dog, Bella.

Visitation for Judee will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel DePew presiding. Judee will be laid to rest at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sherman Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caritas Food Pantry at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, honoring Judee’s legacy of generosity and community support.
