LUDINGTON — Charles Bernard Robinson, 47, of Scottville was convicted on multiple child rape charges today in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court following a two-day jury trial.
Robinson was arrested in October 2024 and charged with three counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) and one count of fourth degree CSC.
The four counts involved sexual assaults on four separate children: an 11-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old girl. All the crimes occurred in the City of Ludington over a five-month period in 2022.
According to Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Beth Hand, Robinson took the stand in his own defense. “He denied any wrongdoing,” Hand said. “Despite this denial, a unanimous jury of 12 found Robinson guilty as charged in less than an hour (of deliberation).”
At Hand’s request, Robinson was brought to the Mason County Jail where he will await sentencing.
Second degree CSC is a felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment. Fourth degree CSC is a high court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years imprisonment.
“Today, the voice of four child victims have been heard,” Hand said. “The verdict of the jury brought justice to these children who were brave enough to tell their story to a room full of strangers.”
Hand thanked the Ludington Police Department for its work in the case. She also acknowledged the Children’s Advocacy Center, “which was instrumental in providing an opportunity for the victims to come forward in a safe and caring environment.”
