Obituary: Mary Ann (Helber) Perkins, 78, of Ludington

May 19, 2025

January 6, 1947 to May 16, 2025

Mary Ann Perkins found beauty and joy in the world around her. A lifelong lover of nature, animals (especially dogs), children, and quiet moments, she lived with a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She always tried her best — and it showed in the care she gave to others and the life she led.

Mary Ann began her teaching career in Swartz Creek in special education and later spent many years shaping young minds as a fourth grade teacher with Ludington Area Schools. Her dedication to her students and excitement for learning left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Diane (Gene) Shank; nephew, Thad (Jen) Shank; niece, Megan Maltbie; and four great-nieces: Julia and Erin Maltbie, and Madi and Kate Shank — along with many friends, former students, and kindred spirits.

Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.
