May 16, 2025

Kylee Johnson and Reese Willis hold up the All Around Senior trophy after being selected the 2025 winners. The All Around Senior is a tradition that dates back to 1938. It is only the ninth time that the award has been given to multiple seniors. The last time it happened was in 2016 when Cameron Doan and Samantha Gould were selected.

LUDINGTON — Ludington High School seniors Reese Willis and Kylee Johnson were named the 2024-2025 All Around Seniors during Thursday’s academic assembly. Willis and Johnson became the 87th recipients of the award that dates back to 1938. It is only the ninth time that the voting has ended in a tie.

Ludington High School Principal Steve Forsberg said Ludington has been blessed with a great seniors this year.

“Reese Willis and Kylee Jphnson lead in their own unique ways, not just with words but with their actions,” he said. “They set such good examples, not only in their own class but for all classes in the high school.”

Willis said she was surprised to hear her name called during the assembly.

“I was really happy,” she said. Willis said she was also happy for Johnson because they both love the Ludington High School community and are active within those walls.

“We have a lot of pride in this school,” she said. “I was honored and grateful to be selected in the top ten seniors by my peers.”

Willis will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall to study marketing with a minor in business analytics.

Tears started to well in Kylee Johnson’s eyes when she heard her name called on Thursday. Johnson too was very happy to share the honor with Willis.

“I am really happy to share this honor with Reese because we have been friends since the beginning,” she said. “It is a fun moment to share together.”

Johnson will be attending Grand Valley State University in the fall studying speech language pathology.

Forsberg said both Willis and Johnson represent what it means to a Ludington Oriole.

“Both of these students enbody what it means to be an Oriole,” Forsberg said. “They are accomplished academically but also involved in athletics, the arts, the performing arts and clubs and represent a huge cross section of our student body.”

Reese’s parents are Mark and Jeanne Willis of Ludington and Kylee’s parents are Tom and Becky Johnson of Victory Township.

Willis and Johnson were selected from a group that included: Catherine Karboski, Benjamin Coleman, Magdelyn Autrey, Rebecca Weinert, Ling Zhang, Jordyn Anderson, Maddie Gassaway and Nadia Grierson.
