RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — A 48-year-old woman is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest Sunday evening, May 4, at a residence in the 3600 block of West Anthony Road,
The woman’s 53-year-old husband is the suspect, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, who referred to the case as attempted murder.
Mason County deputies were called to the residence at 8:47 p.m. “Upon arrival, deputies found a 48-year-old female with a stab wound to the chest, and a 53-year-old male subject with severe lacerations to his hands,” said Sheriff Cole. “The investigation found the suspect and victim are married. Both subjects were transported to Corewell Hospital by Life EMS, and both were then transported to separate hospitals in Grand Rapids.”
The suspect is in stable condition.
The Riverton Township Fire Department and Life EMS assisted at the scene.
The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
