Ludington High School student Charlotte Torrez was recently selected as a regional winner in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition.

Charlotte’s acrylic painting titled “Animals of Michigan” will be on display in Congressman John Moolenaar’s office in Clare.

Congressman Moolenaar announced the winners last week at a reception at the Green Charter Township Hall.

Nevada Draper, a 12th grade homeschool student from Hesperia, won the competition’s grand prize with her painting, “One Generation Away.” Her artwork will be on display at the United States Capitol for the next year where it will be viewed by visitors from around the world.

“I congratulate Nevada on this wonderful accomplishment. Her artwork will represent our district well as it is displayed in the U.S. Capitol this year. Thank you to every student from our district who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. I am grateful to see so many talented students showcase their skills and present exceptional artwork,” said Congressman Moolenaar.

Gracie Knudsen of Newaygo High School was the other regional winner, and her painting titled “Clouds over Lake Michigan” will be on display in Moolenaar’s office in Caledonia.

The Congressional Art Competition takes place annually in districts across the country where students submit original artwork. More information about the Congressional Art Competition can be found here.
