Obituary: Frederick Marvin Cooper, 74, of Custer

Frederick Marvin Cooper, 74, of Custer, died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital.  He was born February 4, 1950, in Ludington, the son Jarvis and Lois (Finley) Cooper.

Frederick was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

Frederick worked for Metalworks, Inc. in Ludington for over 30 years until his retirement in 2008.  He loved his family, riding his motorcycles, his farm and all animals.  He also enjoyed hunting and being a member of the Mason County Motorcycle Association.  Frederick was always doing something and could never sit still which earned him the nickname “Fast Freddy”!

Frederick is survived by: his daughters, Susan Cooper (Jeremy Rasmussen)  and Paula (Brian) Sodders; his grandchildren, Justin, Samantha, Lily, Dawson, Raven, Ian, Sean, Billy, Delilah, and Ariah; his great grandchildren, Jayce, Kenzi, Ari, James and Amy; and several nieces and nephews.

On May 24, 1975, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Ludington, Frederick married Margaret Ann Winey, who preceded him in death in 2023.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanne Warden and Lois Siple.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Frederick’s life will be held at a later date.
