PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Entrepreneurs with a new or existing business idea can win $5,000 in start-up funds in the Momentum 5×5 Competition, returning to Ludington on Tuesday, August 13.
Participants may apply now to the contest; no business plan is required. Then, five finalists will be chosen to present their business ideas to a panel of judges at Epworth Heights, with one winner taking home $5,000 in the “Shark Tank”-style event.
The Chamber Alliance of Mason County administers the Momentum 5×5 program to encourage new business in Mason County and participants who may need start-up funds to get their ideas moving forward. The prize money and pitch night are sponsored by Epworth.
“We appreciate this partnership with Epworth to make a positive contribution to the community through entrepreneurship,” said Brandy Miller, president/CEO of the Chamber Alliance of Mason County. “We encourage any small business to enter. The Chamber will guide you through the process with free confidential counseling and support.”
In addition to the cash prize, the winner will receive in-kind gifts from Epworth:
- An ad in the Epworth Annual.
- An invitation to have a booth at Epworth’s early-season open house to inform cottagers about the business.
- An invitation to take the stage at next year’s Momentum 5×5 to give an update on the business to the captive audience of both cottagers and Ludington-area public.
This will be the sixth Momentum 5×5 in Mason County, all held in cooperation with Epworth. Past winners include Sister Bees, My Inspired Studio (now known as Faire Heart), House and Harbor, Lakeshore Swim School, and The SandBox.
