Stage Left Theatre Co. to host Intro to Acting workshop

LUDINGTON —  The Stage Left Theatre Company is hosting an Intro to Acting workshop on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ludington Area Center for the Arts, 107 S. Harrison St. The program will be lead by Thomas L. Phillips, a graduate of West Shore Community College who acted in many theatre productions during his time there.

After attending WSCC, Phillips attended Northern Arizona University where he earned a bachelor’s degrees in both theatre directing and theater performance. He then earned a master’s degree in film and television production from Chapman University. Since that time he has directed, produced, and/or edited many film and theater productions, many of which have been nominated and won awards in various categories. He has also instructed theater and film courses at The Actors Workshop, The Art Institute of Jacksonville, Campbellsville University, and the Compass College of Cinematic Arts. He was also the owner/CEO of T Street Productions from 2004-2018.

Cost for the workshop is $25 for Stage Left Theatre Company members (those who have worked on a Stage Left production in the past) and for members of the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, and $40 for non-members. Topics covered during the workshop will include ensemble building, breath support & vocal techniques, character building, movement, improvisation, performance elements and much more. Participants are encouraged to bring a short piece that they’d like to work on performing but this is not required.

Participants must be age 16 or older. Class size is limited to 15 students. Registration will close on June 20 or when the size limit is reached.
