WSCC to hold commencement Saturday

WSCC News is presented by West Shore Community College in partnership with Mason County Press.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College will hold its commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the college’s Center Stage Theater. Over 150 students are eligible to receive degrees and certificates.

Speakers for the event will be Scott Ward, president of WSCC, Sherry Wyman, chairwoman of the WSCC Board of Trustees, and Nathan Biggs, president of the WSCC Student Senate. Dr. Erwin Selimos, professor of sociology will provide the faculty address.

                The graduates will be presented by Dr. Mark Kinney, vice president of academics and student services.

                Following the commencement ceremony, a reception for the graduates and their families will be held in the Schoenherr Campus Center.

                For those unable to attend a ceremony in person, both will be live streamed, starting at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The streams will be accessible via YouTube or Facebook.

The WSCC nursing program will honor 18 graduating nursing students in a symbolic pinning ceremony to be held tonight at 6 p.m. in the Center Stage Theater. Each graduate will receive a time-honored pin, a symbol of a nurse’s service to others, and their induction into the nursing profession.  This ceremony will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person.  Live streams can be accessed via WSCC’s YouTube or Facebook pages.

WSCC’s Law Enforcement Academy cadets and emergency medical services (EMS) students will be recognized during the Public Safety programs ceremony at 4 p.m. on Monday., May 6, in the Center Stage Theater. A reception will follow the ceremony.  This ceremony will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person.  Live streams can be accessed via WSCC’s YouTube or Facebook pages.
