Stanley Schroeder

Stanley Brian Schroeder, 83, of Ludington, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Stan was born on February 6, 1941, the son of the late Loyal and Elnora (Porter) Schroeder. He was a 1959 graduate of Shelby High School, and later went on to attend Michigan Tech, earning a degree in chemistry.  On June 14, 1963, he married his sweetheart, Pauline (DeVos) Schroeder. Together they shared nearly 60 years together until her passing in 2022.

Stan and Pauline moved around the country, working in seven different states. When they retired in 2000, they came back to Ludington and resided at Crosswinds Condominiums. They made many friends at Crosswinds, as well as during their time in the Florida Keys. They enjoyed going on cruises and spending time with their family every summer in Pentwater. Fishing was his great passion in life; fishing in Alaska, Canada and virtually anywhere he could. He was very proud of his world record fish. He also loved taking his boat on Lake Michigan with anyone who would go with him.

Stan is survived by his daughters, Lynette (Terry) Shold of Superior, Wisconsin, and Sandra (Steve) Oxer of Temperance, Michigan; six grandchildren, Jessica Robertson, Matthew Shold, Sarah Esselstrom, Kaitlyn Shold, Autumn Oxer, and Seth Oxer; two greatgrandchildren, TJ Robertson, and Colton Esselstrom; sister, Marilyn Schmuker; special friend, Mary Ann Mead; and cat, Katarina.

Stan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Schroeder.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Visitation begins at noon at the funeral home.
